Be Good. Do Good.
SIVANANDA HOME X TAYLOR'S UNIVERSITY
The Home
The home houses 30 boys ages 7 to 18, providing shelter, education and care. This home is strongly based on the upbringing of the children- from the aspects of spiritual upbringing and moral values.
About Us
Our team consists of 11 people- Rebecca, Premdyl, Syakira, Kyla, Sara, Jon, Yang, Nazmi, Lawrence, Allester and Jean. Together we have brainstormed concepts and ideas to help our chosen charity.
Our initial organization was Rumah Safiyyah, which was a home for 80 children ranging from ages 5 to 14. We had paid them a visit and donated some necessities such as biscuits, oil and snacks. We had proposed to build multiple shoe racks to accommodate up to 160 pairs of shoes; as well as a shelf,
and also to beautify the vacant planter boxes with sustainable plants such as chilies, limau purut, pandan and so on. Due to complications, we were not able to pull through with Rumah Safiyyah, but we were promised that this non-government organization would be pushed to the next semester as an option. After discussing with Mr Siva and Ms Salvi, we were given the options of the green wall and hybrid shoe rack as per instructed through the organization that contacted Ms Salvi earlier. These structures are designed to be easily fabricated and installed whenever and wherever as well as easily adaptable in any environment.

Reflection.
Our team cooperated throughout complications and obstacles- we learned the basics of construction and the importance of reusing materials to create durable, sustainable interactive structures. Through the course of 8 weeks, we have grasped the importance of communication, time management, eco-sustainability and the social impacts of our actions towards the community and nature.
